YOUNG MOGUL INTERVIEWS
Comics and Cones Founder, Jordan Tucker

Jordan Tucker, Comics and Cones
As promised, we are back with the full interview with Jordan Tucker, author, artist, and founder of Comics and Cones.
Jordan sits down with The Young Mogul’s, Alexandria Anderson, and has an enlightening conversation about leadership, failure, and his inspiration for Comics and Cones.
Alexandria: Hi Jordan. Tell us a little about yourself.
Jordan: My name is Jordan, I’m 15 and I started my business, Comics and Cones in 2020, during Covid. The world kind of was shut down so I just figured since I love to do art and make books, that would be how I could give back to my community.
Alexandria: Since you run your business basically by yourself, what do you think makes an effective leader?
Jordan: An effective leader has to be able to communicate well, they should be able to see from multiple different perspectives, be inclusive of others, their ideas and their thoughts, and they should just take charge if they see something wrong. They should step up and say something and help others.
Alexandria: Have you ever failed at anything and how did you learn from failure?
Jordan: Oh yeah, I’ve failed multiple times, especially with the business. Writing a book is a lot harder than it seems, so I would have a lot of inspiration and I would sit down and write. I gave myself time to think about what I wanted to write about and I didn’t write until I felt like writing. That’s how the book came about.
Alexandria: How would you handle feelings of doubt?
Jordan: It happens, you know? Not every sale will go well, you won’t sell out at every event. Sometimes you might not sell anything. Sometimes you wonder, “Is this really gonna work?”, but you have to fail before you succeed.
Alexandria: That’s the only way you really learn….
Jordan: Exactly
Alexandria: What do you envision Comics and Cones to be in the future?
Jordan: I just plan to get it out to as many people as I can, whether it be in person or online, just trying to help as many people as I can.
Alexandria: So, do you plan on writing more books?
Jordan: Yes
Alexandria: Do you incorporate social media in your business?
Jordan: My mom runs it but we do have a few socials.
Alexandria: How do you operate your socials?
Jordan: We don’t really do too much, but if we have an event that we’re going to, we’ll post about that so we can get people to come.
Alexandria: Not really complicated?
Jordan: Yeah, it’s not too much, just what we need to do.
Alexandria: Who or what motivates you to keep moving forward?
Jordan: A lot of people in my family, my mom and dad, my little brother and myself. I like making a difference and I know there’s always something you can do and if you’re not doing it, someone else will.
Alexandria: ….You can’t really make a difference if you don’t do anything… So, what type of advice would you give someone who wants to start their own business?
Jordan: Just do it and don’t be scared of the promotional part of it because I am definately still nervous about that. Yesterday, for example, my mom introduced my book to my basketball team and it was a little, um…
Alexandria: Awkward?
Jordan: Yeah, but that’s just part of it, you know? They might laugh but when you’re doing something that affects more that just you…the world, just keep doing what you want to do, what you love to do!
Alexandria: Thank you for this interview, Jordan.
Jordan: You’re welcome, anytime.
